The Vibration Institute is a not for profit organization dedicated to the exchange of  practical vibration information on machines and structures. The scope of the Institute's activities also includes non-intrusive condition monitoring technologies.

The Institute, which was established in 1972, has more than 3,000 members, 37 chapters, and a technology division - the Society for Machinery Failure Prevention Technology (MFPT). The Institute's program consists of an Annual Meeting, short courses, and an internationally recognized certification program for assessing individual levels of expertise in machinery vibrations. The Institute publishes Vibrations magazine, proceedings of it's Annual Meeting and Short Course Notes.

The Vibration Institute's Certification Program is the focal point for recognizing the capability and motivation of individuals in the vibration field. It provides professional recognition by clients, employers, and colleagues and acknowledgement of proven capability at the level certified. The examination content and questions are developed by the Vibration Institute Certification committee, which is composed of certified members of U.S. and Canadian industry and academia.

The Annual Meeting of the Vibration Institute provides a forum for the discussion and exchange of information about practical vibration and other predictive maintenance technologies used to evaluate machinery behavior and condition. Included in the industries served by the Institute are machine tool, manufacturing, metals, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power, pulp, paper and printing.

For additional details about the Annual Meeting, please see the Vibration Institute home page at www.vibinst.org.
