2019-2020 Meeting Schedule

September 26, 2019 – 6 PM @ Paddock Chevrolet Golf Dome

“Motion Amplification: Seeing is Believing”

Sean Hickey, Northeast Regional Manager - RDI Technologies

Imagine, instead of measuring or feeling even the most minute vibration, you can see it. It is now possible with Motion Amplification™(MA). MA is a video-processing product package that detects subtle motion and amplifies that motion to a level visible with the naked eye. Every pixel becomes a displacement sensor creating millions of data points in an instant. For large assets outfitting them with contact sensors is costly and difficult because of the sheer number of sensors required to measure the entire asset. The way to combat the limitations of traditional vibration technologies is by shifting the sensor from the 1D digital world to the visual spectrum. Videos created through MA enhance the understanding of the components and interrelationships creating the motion. This makes it a great troubleshooting tool, quick and effective alternative to traditional operating deflection shapes (ODS), and effective communication tool between technical and non-technical resources.

Sean Hickey, RDI Technologies NE Regional Manager, cut his teeth in this industry selling vibration sensors and hardware at CTC where he managed the SE United States. Sean holds a BS in Packaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology where he focused on material science, manufacturing processes and shock and vibration of products through their distribution cycles. Sean has been a member of and strong supporter of the Vibration Institute going back to 2015.

Meeting cost is $10 for member, $15 for non members and includes dinner and non alcoholic beverages.  Cash bar available.

For the upcoming meeting, please RSVP no later than Noon on Monday, September 23rd. Please send in your email to – mchristman@pcb.com
